European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI)
The European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) was formally established in November 2013. However, the Portuguese Ombudsman took part in the preparatory work leading to the creation of this association, going back to the beginning of the European Group of National Human Rights Institutions.
This group, with an informal nature, joined 41 institutions from the European area in order to form an association to support the activities of National Human Rights Institutions and to constitute itself as a privileged interlocutor with the ICC, particularly in the processes of accreditation and re-accreditation.
The Portuguese Ombudsman participates actively in the work of this organization, whether in plenary meetings or in meetings of thematic groups, thus contributing to the preparation of studies and reports regarding the respect of human rights in Europe.
