Deputy Ombudsman speaks in Cairo about the Ombudsman’s role in the fire compensation process
Deputy Ombudsman Joaquim Pedro Cardoso da Costa was in Cairo as a "keynote speaker" to talk about the role played by the Ombudsman of Portugal in the process of compensation for the seriously injured and the relatives of the mortal victims of the great fires of the summer of 2017, where 115 people died.
The intervention took place in the framework of a workshop held in the Egyptian capital from 17 to 19 June on the role of the National Institutions of Human Rights in legal assistance and resolution of complaints.
Organized by the Egyptian National Council for Human Rights and the German Development Cooperation in Egypt, the workshop was co-financed by the European Union, bringing together experts from various countries to exchange experiences and best practices.
