Ombudsman’s Office participates in the 109th Session of the United Nations Committee for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
The Deputy Ombudsman, Ravi Afonso Pereira, and Cristina Sá Costa (Head of International Relations) participated in the 109th Session of the United Nations Committee for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, held in Geneva on 18-19 April, during which there was a dialogue between the Portuguese State and the Committee on the implementation of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, in the process of evaluation of Portugal’s 18th and 19th Periodic Reports.
Similar to the statement presented at the Pre-Session, which took place on 11 April, the statement presented at the Session, stressing the importance of the effective implementation by the Portuguese State of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, reiterated some of the concerns expressed in the submitted Alternative Report.
