Ombudsman’s Office receives delegation from Moldova’s Ombudsman
On 15 May, the Ombudsman’s Office received a delegation from Moldova, led by the Ombudsman, Ceslav Panico.
The work session, which aimed to exchange knowledge and experiences, including good practices, between the two institutions, was part of the visit organised to Portugal under the high patronage of the Council of Europe Representation in Chisinau, aimed at “Strengthening the protection of the human rights of refugees and migrants in the Republic of Moldova”.
The Ombudsman’s activity as the National Preventive Mechanism for the prevention of torture and other ill-treatment in Portugal was presented, followed by a presentation on how the Ombudsman’s Office deals with the complaints that arrive daily regarding foreigners, including migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. In this context, the reception and integration of Ukrainian citizens in Portugal under temporary protection was discussed.
