Ombudsperson participates in conference on Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights
The Ombudsperson, Maria Lúcia Amaral, participated in a conference on Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights, promoted by the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Dunja Mijatović.
How to protect human rights, holistically and in all sectors of activity, in the face of accelerating reliance on digital technologies and automation based on access to personal data, and what role National Human Rights Institutions can play in this process, was the central theme of the conference, which took as its starting point the recommendations addressed to Member States in 2019 by the Commissioner.
The event took place in Amsterdam, on 30 and 31 March, and brought together more than thirty representatives of national and international structures with relevant intervention in the promotion and defence of human rights.
