TAIEX. Ombudsman’s Office participates in assistance program for Ombudsman-type Balkan countries

The Ombudsman’s Office is participating in the assistance program for Ombudsman-type institutions in the Balkan region, within the scope of the TAIEX (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange) project, promoted by the European Commission in the perspective of their accession to the European Union (EU).

The objective of this mission is to evaluate the independence and efficiency of the functioning of these institutions in these six countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia. The experts assess the legal and institutional framework and also analyze the work of the institutions concerned, through the study of cases that have recently been dealt with.

The Ombudsman’s involvement in this program began in July 2022 and is expected to conclude in the first quarter of 2023.
