Estrela Chaby is a Judge, having joined the Centro de Estudos Judiciários in 1997. In jurisdiction, she exercised functions in the general jurisdiction, in the civil area and in the family and children’s area. She graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra (1994), post-graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon (2008), Master in Legal Sciences from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon (2014), with training in Mediation (Institut Catholique de Paris, 2016). She was a trainee assistant at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra (1995-1997), advisor to the Office of Judges of the Constitutional Court (2004-2010). Born in Lisbon in 1971, was a lecturer and coordinator of the Civil, Commercial and Civil Procedural Jurisdiction of the Centro de Estudos Judiciários, where she also taught in the area of Judicial Cooperation in Civil and Commercial Matters. Author of publications in the areas of Civil Procedural Law, Family and Children’s Law and Constitutional Law, she is Deputy Ombudsman since March 2022.
