Tribute to Salgado Zenha. Ombudsman at the commemorations of the centennial of Francisco Salgado Zenha at the Law School of the University of Minho

The Ombudsperson, Maria Lúcia Amaral, participated in the commemorations of the centennial of Francisco Salgado Zenha’s birth, that took place in Braga, where he was born.

The Ombudsperson closed the conference “The Necessary Testimonies“, dedicated to the honoured Francisco Salgado Zenha, organized by the Law School of the University of Minho, on 2 May, 2023. On this occasion, the Ombudsperson recalled the fact that it was Salgado Zenha who proposed the creation of the Ombudsman in Portugal, with the name “Provedor de Justiça”, in the action plan for reform of justice that he presented in September 1974, as Minister of Justice of the second provisional government, which would be followed, with the institution of this Organ of the State in 1975.
